You have to go Post Office and fill the form to send a money order, but do you know you can also send money order from your home online anytime and get it door-delivered to any destination in India.
ICICI Bank’s Smart Money Order is a service, which allows you to send money anytime, anywhere in India. All you have to do is log your ICICI Bank online account and enter amount and the address of the receiver. The Money will be delivered to your beneficiary’s doorstep by Indian Postal services. Money order is very useful to send money to small villages of India.
Smart Money Order allows you send money order online anywhere in India without any restrictions on cities or towns from your home, office or anywhere you have internet. Get confirmation of the delivery of money the money order. You can send maximum of Rs 5,000/ and minimum of Rs 100/ on a single transaction.
NRI’s can also use this facility. But Non-Resident Indian (NRI) customer need to enter a local address in India as sender address.
Smart Money Order service is available 24 X 7 X 365. Here are the steps to send Money Order using ICICI Bank’s Smart Money Order,
- Login to ICICI Bank
- Click on the Smart Money Order Link in the left navigation bar
- Click on Send Money Order
- Enter name and address of the Sender ( This address will be used for deliver confirmation)
- Enter name and address of the person whom you want to send the money
- Click on the Pay button on bottom of the screen
Online Smart Money Order Charges:
Indian Post Charge: 5% commission on the amount of Money order( this charge is applicable even for Money Orders made through Post Offices).
ICICI bank Charge: Rs 25 per money order plus service tax as money order processing fee (service tax is for Rs.25 )
Indian Post service will send you an acknowledgment of receipt of money order by receiver ( This is the address which you entered at the time of making request)
Actual time taken to deliver the money order depends on the time taken by the postal service (it may take up to 15 working days)
What will happen in case receiver not available ?
In case customer is not available at the address provided by the sender, the postman will put up a notice at the receiver’s address about arrival of the money order at the Post Office affiliated to receiver’s address and receiver can collect the amount within 7 working days.
In case receiver fails to collect the money order within the stipulated time, India Post will refund the amount to the sender’s address as mentioned by the sender at the time of making the Smart Money Order request. Charges incurred by the sender will however, not be refunded.
