Non Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) pen, hold and maintain the following accounts without the permission from the Reserve Bank of India,

Types of accounts which can be maintained by an NRIs and PIO in India are,

1. Non-Resident (Ordinary) Rupee Account (NRO Account)
2. Non-Resident (External) Rupee Account (NRE Account)
3. Foreign Currency Non Resident (Bank) Account – FCNR (B) Account
