What type of remittances are permitted using Western Union, MoneyGram in India ?
You can use Western Union money transfer service, MoneyGram, etc only for personal use when you remit money from abroad to India. According to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, you can only remit money from abroad to India for personal remittances towards family maintenance and also in the favour of foreign tourists visiting India.
You cannot use this service send money towards purchase of property, related remittances, credit to NRE/FCNR Accounts etc or for Donations to Charitable organizations.
